About Rogue Birds
As some of you know, I'm in a band. I play drums and percussion in a trio called ROGUE BIRDS. Duffy Gardner is the driving force behind the trio. He writes, sings, plays guitar, sets up our mics and essentially manages us. Carl Witke is our "straight man". He plays cello, some guitar and sings. He brings a quite sort of class to our project. I'm the class clown. I play some drums and shakers. I sing sometimes, if the spirit moves me or if I've had enough to drink. We play some covers but mainly we play Duffy's originals. His tunes are often spiritual, but not religious. We each come with diverse musical interest and influences. We all agree on the genius of Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Alajandro Escovedo and The EELS. People have said we can sound like: Morphine/Neil Young, but most folks think we have a unique sound. I'd say we are more passionate than precise, more punk than prog, more drunk than gospel. We play around central Vermont, but would like to expand our range soon. Radio Bean, Bees Knees, Langdon St. Cafe and Stonecutters Brewery are all great spots to play. If you know of a cool spot for us to play, let me know.
